I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in psychotherapy with children, adolescents, young adults and families. I work with people on a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and interpersonal difficulties. I particularly focus on working with individuals struggling with self-harming and suicidal behaviors. I also provide supportive and affirmative therapy to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender clients. My therapy approach is from a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) framework, and I am trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindfulness based approaches to therapy. Additionally, I have a background as a school psychologist and work with students regarding behavioral difficulties, academic underachievement, and more. I am also available to families to provide school consultation services and educational planning.
I believe that people are doing the best they can and have found themselves in a place where their old ways of coping just aren’t working anymore. It is my job to teach the skills that people need to successfully live the life they want to live and support and empower them to do so. My approach is strength-based and comes from a place of nonjudgmental compassion. I am my genuine self in therapy. I avoid "psycho babble" because I believe the therapeutic process is most successful when we communicate in a real way. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I use evidence-based principles to guide the therapeutic work that I do in order to help my clients reach their individual treatment goals.
